Patron Contact with Employees and Managers
“Patron” includes members, guests, public, all users of Olive Glenn golf course and facilities.
Olive Glenn strives to make patron service a priority. Providing the best possible experience requires the Club to attract and retain the best employees available. They represent a major investment in recruiting, training, and retention. Their knowledge of the Club, standards and protocols, patrons’ preferences and interests, are reflected in the motivated employees who enjoy working here year-round and those who return each summer.
Inappropriate behavior by a patron, when directed at an employee or manager, threatens the Club’s ability to attract and retain the caliber of employee essential to a quality experience. Such behavior also incurs liability risks when patron actions create a hostile workplace environment for our employees.
Accordingly, the Club will take steps to protect its employees when patrons act in an inappropriate or threatening manner. The following are examples of inappropriate conduct that violate the Code and/or Rules and Regulations; such violations may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal from the Club:
*Threatening, disparaging, or reprimanding an individual Club employee in any way, including verbal, written, actions, attitude, or by any other means.
*Initiating, or engaging in, a physical altercation with a Club employee.
*Engaging in any conduct generally recognized as harassment, sexual or otherwise, or by creating a hostile workplace.
*Attempting to direct, influence, manage, or interfere with an employee’s activities.
*Using rude, vulgar, threatening, harassing, defamatory, ridiculing, or otherwise offensive or inappropriate language, written or oral, or using offensive or inappropriate gestures toward, or in the presence of, a Club employee.
*Engaging in inappropriate relationship building with an employee, such that the employee is uncomfortable in serving or interacting with that patron.
If a member has a concern with any aspect of a Club employee’s performance of his/her duties, the patron should express those concerns to the manager of that department. If the concerns relate to the performance of a manager, the patron should report those concerns to the Club President.
Olive Glenn Golf Club Code of Conduct, draft v.2, Nov. 8, 2024, continued
Conduct that Impairs Patrons’ Enjoyment of the Club
“Patron” includes members, guests, public, all users of Olive Glenn golf course and facilities.Patrons have access to the Club facilities and activities, and are entitled to enjoy those facilities and activities. Conduct by a patron that disrupts or interferes with other patrons’ peaceful enjoyment is inappropriate conduct. Such conduct may also cause harm to the reputation of the Club, especially when such conduct involves families of other patrons or patrons of other Clubs.
Accordingly, the following are examples of conduct that violate the Code of Conduct and/or Rules and Regulations; such violations may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or dismissal from the Club:
*Engaging in rude, vulgar, threatening, harassing, or otherwise offensive or inappropriate behavior that disturbs others, interferes with a Club activity or event, or disturbs the enjoyment of the Club by other patrons.
*Initiating, or engaging in, a physical altercation with other patrons.
*Using rude, vulgar, threatening, harassing, defamatory, ridiculing, or otherwise offensive or inappropriate language, written or oral, or using similarly offensive or inappropriate gestures in the presence of other patrons.
*Interfering with, or disrupting, the enjoyment of membership in, or use of, the Club by other patrons during participation in a Club activity or event, or in situations where such activity is likely to create a hostile environment.
The foregoing is not intended to be an exhaustive list of examples of unbecoming conduct in violation of the Code and/or Rules and Regulations that could potentially interfere with the use and enjoyment of Club facilities by other patrons. Club activities are generally held by, and under the supervision of, Club management and employees. If, during these activities, Club management, employees or patrons observe inappropriate conduct, they may request the patron(s) involved to refrain from such conduct. If the offending patron is unresponsive to requests to restrain his/her actions, the patron may be referred to the Board of Directors to seek its intervention. The referral may be made by another affected patron, employee, or Club management.
